Chee Ghit started her architectural career with the Housing and Development Board (HDB) of Singapore in 1977. Having acquired sound working knowledge of local bylaws and regulations, she moved on to join a major architectural practice in Singapore. During her tenure, she was the lead architect in various projects in both the private sector and government agencies. Her overseas projects took her to Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China and Australia.

In 1987, she was posted to Sydney, Australia on a 3 year secondment with renowned architectural firm Kenzo Tange Associates to work on the World Square Development Project. On her return, she was appointed Director and took the role of Director-in-Charge of projects in China. Fluent in Mandarin, she oversees projects in various cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Xiamen, Guangzhou) in China.

Her extensive travels had equipped her with first-hand knowledge and insight into the practice in the regional construction industry. Her portfolio is varied; she has been actively involved in all types of development.

In 2004, Chee Ghit started her own practice to continue in the pursue of her vision of 'building for the environment, place making for the people'.
